Testimonials
“What makes [Nadia’s] presentation so awesome is the immersion into Caribbean culture the kids are exposed to. My niece loved making her carnival costume pieces, learning the songs of old and had an absolute blast participating in the dancing/singing. I am still reading your book to her and she loves to jump up near the end of the story to this day and pretend she is at Carnival with Makaila. We both are counting down to her new adventures in your next release 'Malaika's Winter Carnival!!”

“The students were very engaged.  They responded to the dancing which Nadia had them do to music as soon as they entered.  They loved it.”
-- Teacher, Kingston, Ontario, Canada

“The students had great questions.  One that was asked at all three sessions was, ‘Are you Malaika?’  This gave Nadia the chance to talk about her heritage and being Canadian and touch upon the illustrations and the illustrator.”
-- Teacher, Kingston, Ontario, Canada

“Nadia accompanied us at our first ever Toronto Public Library booth at Toronto's Junior Carnival at Neilson Park in July 2016. She did an excellent job doing storytelling from "Malaika's  Costume". She engaged the kids with a "Carnival Peacock Contest"  where she attracted kids with a lovely peacock puppet. She also did a mask making craft which allowed them to have an interactive experience and really drew families to our booth. It was a pleasure working with Nadia and we wish to do more programs with her in the future.”
-- Ashley Spencer, Library Assistant, Barbara Frum branch, Toronto Public Library

“Nadia’s love of culture, art, and storytelling shine through as she presents ‘Malaika’s Costume’ to the students.  She engages them well through songs and chants, and makes the story come alive.  The adults enjoyed her presentation as much as the children and I would highly recommend Nadia’s presentation for a school or similar setting.”
-- Susan Streicher, Teacher, Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB)
