Ten Years: My Writing Career 2011-2021

Today it is time for some inspiration.

On December 30, 2021, I posted a reel celebrating the highlights of the first Ten Years 2011-2021 of my professional writing career.

You said the last reel went by quickly, making them difficult to read. So here are the slides.

Dream big, friends! Enjoy!

In 2011, I had surgery, radiation, and treatment for papillary thyroid cancer. I made two promises to myself for when I got better— 1) to travel the world 🌎 🌍 and 2) to become an author.

Cancer was “the 🔥 fire under my ass” for taking my lifelong hobby of writing ✍️ turning it into a liveable career. (Even though, I felt God calling 📞 me to writing at the age of 20.)

I’m still on that journey but I thought I’d make a reel to celebrate 🎉 everything that has happened in he last ten years since I made that promise to myself.

In ten years, I feel confident in saying that I am a Writer— no more imposter syndrome. I’ve come far and thank all who have been a part of this journey.

I didn’t imagine all of this and can’t wait to see where my writing career goes.

Happy New Year, everyone!

I know what you're thinking. We said that last year and 2021 was no walk in the park.  Losses and gains and hard lessons.  Reminders that we aren't quite in the clear.

Yet 2022 appears all shiny and new. Hopeful and bright-eyed. Kind of like this Bit-moji.

I tend to find more motivation and great momentum at this time of year to start things.

My goals for this year:

1) Healthy habits, boundaries, and care to maintain my physical and mental health

2) Nurturing my relationships

3) Completing my two novels (my MFA thesis, another one, both have been in the works for several years) and other projects

4) Deepening my spiritual life

5) Preparing for life post-MFA

I hope you find a healthy, hopeful, and happy 2022.

What are you looking forward to in 2022?
